Hang around me long enough and you'll soon discover that I'm a travel nut. Not cars, per say, but I love the idea of travel. Planes, boats, and trains. And Portland may possibly boast the greenest, fastest, and cleanest public transportation in the US. Not long after we arrived, we discovered that it was often cheaper and timelier (not stuck looking for a parking space) to travel downtown by taking the bus to the transit center, and then the MAX (our train) to any number of stations downtown. Living in Portland opened me up to public transportation in a way I hadn't thought of before, and I will likely take it in other cities because of it. I will certainly miss the Tri-Met transportation system of Portland.
